Wolfsburg announce interest in signing Manchester United star Anthony Martial

According to German newspaper Kicker (via talkSPORT), Wolfsburg are interested in taking Anthony Martial on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

What’s the Story?

Anthony Martial, who is valued at £26.6million by Transfermarkt, has been attracting the interest of a number of clubs in recent weeks and now, according to Kicker, it seems Wolfsburg have joined the list of suitors.

Roma and Inter Milan are also reportedly interested in the Frenchman, with the latter asking for Martial’s services as part of any deal involving Ivan Perisic heading to Old Trafford.

However, the 21-year-old’s wages are extremely high and the Bundesliga club may struggle to cover the young forwards demands.

Disappointing. Following the 21-year-old’s fantastic first season at Old Trafford, many were predicting great things for the 2016/17 campaign. However, it seems as though the change of management at United may have disrupted the young star, who managed just eight goals in 42 appearances.

Martial looked disenchanted in many of his appearances last season and looked noticeably out of form, despite the club winning a trio of trophies.

Would United let Martial leave?

It would be a surprise to see United let their 21-year-old leave this season, even on loan. Having invested so much into signing Martial from Monaco two years ago, the Red Devils will be reluctant to let the Frenchman go, even if his form has been tremendously inconsistent of late.

However, if Ivan Perisic completes a move to Old Trafford from Inter Milan, Martial could be left with even less playing time, which could spell an end to his career at United.
