Pakistan chief relieved at Champions Trophy decision

Pakistan’s recently instated chairman, Ijaz Butt, has wholeheartedly welcomed the news that the Champions Trophy will finally go ahead in 2009.Yesterday, the ICC rescheduled the tournament to take place next September, after it was abandoned earlier this year due to security concerns over the country’s political stability.”Of course, it’s a big relief,” Butt told AFP from Dubai where heattended the ICC’s board meeting. “Previously there was some opposition onholding this event in Pakistan but I am happy that it was a consensusdecision.”The location of the event has yet to be finalised by the ICC, and a decision will be made after India’s tour of the country early next year, in which Pakistan host them for three Tests, five one-dayers and a Twenty20.”Pakistan government is taking care of improving security and every stepwill be taken to hold the India series in a peaceful manner,” Butt said, “because thatwill allay fears of other countries.”Pakistan has struggled to attract touring teams for a number of years owing to their concerns over its security. Two home series, against Australia and West Indies, were relocated in the aftermath of the 9/11 bombings in America in 2001, and Australia also postponed their full tour of Pakistan this year. They have agreed to split the tour into two trips, with five ODIs scheduled for March 2009 and a three-Test series in 2010.

Newcastle transfer update on Hayden

Newcastle United ace Isaac Hayden is now reportedly keen on a move away to a rival in the Premier League before the summer transfer window ends.

The Lowdown: Hayden out?

There have been a number of reports throughout the window so far linking Hayden with a move away from St. James’ Park.

The North East club have not started the 2021/22 season off well, losing both of their opening games in the top flight and thus leaving themselves in the relegation zone, which may persuade the central midfield player to want to seek a new challenge before the window shuts.

The Latest: Head turned

As per Football Insider, Watford have now ‘set their sights’ on signing Hayden, and it is understood that he is ‘keen’ on a move to Vicarage Road.

A source from the Hornets has told the news outlet that they are interested in signing Hayden before the window closes, and a move to them has reportedly appeared to have turned his head.

The Verdict: Keep

The Tyneside club must avoid selling Hayden in this window, especially to a rival in the Premier League.

Dubbed ‘outstanding’ by Magpies legend Alan Shearer after a very impressive performance in their 3-2 home win against Southampton in the division back in February, the Englishman was such a key player for them last term, winning no fewer than 5.5 of his duels per game in the top flight, as well as averaging 2.2 tackles, 1.9 clearances and 1.8 interceptions per match (Sofascore).

Nonetheless, with less than a week to go, it would be difficult for Steve Bruce’s team to find a suitable replacement for him.

Paul Stewart tips Spurs chief Nuno to sign Portuguese talents

Paul Stewart has tipped Nuno Espirito Santo to return to his homeland in a bid to strengthen his Tottenham Hotspur squad before the transfer window slams shut.

Nuno was appointed as Spurs’ new head coach, following a lengthy process that saw the likes of former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte linked with the job, in June.

The Portuguese has moved into the hotseat having seen a four-year stint as Wolverhampton Wanderers’ chief end by mutual agreement at the end of last season.

During his time at Molineux, Nuno welcomed a number of Portugal’s leading stars to England. The likes of Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, Joao Moutinho and Rui Patricio followed Nuno to Wolves during his tenure.

Since taking charge at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Nuno has welcomed Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy, while Bryan Gil has headed to the Premier League from Sevilla.

Former Spurs man Stewart believes Nuno, with the help of super-agent Jorge Mendes, will look to Portugal and discover another hidden gem, like he did so many times at Wolves.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, he said: “Nuno might have something up his sleeve, like a Portuguese player.

“We know he is very close to the agent Jorge Mendes, who brought all the players to Wolves. I hope he might have something up his sleeve.”

WHU fans love Abraham news

West Ham United fans are delighted after it was revealed by reliable club insider ExWHUemployee that Tammy Abraham is available for just £30m this summer.

After a fantastic Premier League season last time out that saw the Hammers finish in sixth place in the table, David Moyes and co are preparing for a Europa League campaign this time around. However, up front at least, the Irons are lacking options – as it stands, Moyes only has Michail Antonio at his disposal in the striker position.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for Tammy Abraham this summer (Ekrem Konur), and now ExWHUemployee has provided an important update. He says that Chelsea have told the England international he can depart this summer, and would accept an offer of £30m for his services.

The news was shared on Twitter by @westhamtransfer, and it attracted plenty of attention from the Hammers supporters. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.

Celtic expected to bid for Osayi-Samuel

With Celtic’s first European qualification match rapidly approaching, Ange Postecoglou desperately needs to conclude a few deals in the transfer market.

Last week, he hoped to have a few fresh faces announced but fortunately, things are now heading in the right direction.

What’s the word?

After the arrivals of Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide, the Hoops look like they’re on the verge of completing a deal for Swedish defender Carl Starfelt.

However, they could also look to seal a switch for English winger Bright Osayi-Samuel.

He left QPR for Fenerbahce in January but could already be on the move according to Fotospor.

They reported earlier this week that the 23-year-old was set to be offered to Monaco in a swap deal involving Henry Onyekuru.

However, Fener are reportdly expecting an offer from Celtic, as well as Fulham and Old Firm rivals, Rangers.

A big upgrade

If you look at Celtic’s current options in the final third they don’t have a great variety.

James Forrest is currently isolating and could miss their clash with Midtjylland next week while Mohamed Elyounoussi is no longer at Lennoxtown after his loan deal ended.

Consequently, Ange Postecoglou is in a situation where he may have to field a relatively inexperienced player on the flanks instead with the likes of Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele available.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-celtic-news-doig-nketiah-mccann” title= “Read the latest Celtic transfer news!”]

However, the new manager could seal an instant upgrade on those options by signing Osayi-Samuel.

A dazzling dribbler, the attacker completed 2.8 dribbles per game in the English Championship last term before succeeding with two per match for Fenerbahce.

Those stats are streets ahead of anyone else at Celtic with Odsonne Edouard the leading light from a dribbling perspective, accumulating 1.6 take-ons an outing.

Consequently, it’s hardly a surprise to see Osayi-Samuel described as a player who “terrifies defenders” by Mark Warburton.

Possessing immense pace on top of that, the former QPR forward is a force to be reckoned with once he gets going.

That’s more than can be said for a player like Johnston who has either spent time on the sidelines injured or struggled to break into the first-team as a regular.

The winger only played ten times last term and although regular minutes will be important in pre-season, he isn’t of strong enough quality to help them reclaim their dominance in the Premiership.

Osayi-Samuel, on the other hand, has proven to be an extremely dangerous proposition. He’d certainly be an upgrade on the current options Postecoglou has.

QPR: Dillon Barnes linked with summer exit

QPR goalkeeper Dillon Barnes is a rumoured loan target for League One side Doncaster Rovers, according to the Doncaster Free Press.

What’s the story?

Barnes has been with QPR since 2019 and is yet to make a senior appearance for the Rs. He’s found regular game time in the QPR first-team hard to come by in recent seasons, and it seems as though he could be heading for a temporary departure this summer.

The shot-stopper is likely to be behind Seny Dieng in the pecking order in Mark Warburton’s side ahead of the 2021/22 league campaign.

Doncaster Rovers have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Barnes on a temporary basis, with the goalkeeper recently featuring in a pre-season friendly for them, as a second-half substitute.

Doncaster boss Richie Wellens has recently revealed that Barnes is on their radar, but wouldn’t be drawn into making a transfer admission on which goalkeeper he’ll pursue a move for at this moment in time.

The ideal move for all parties

Barnes is unlikely to feature for the QPR first-team this term, with the strong performances of Seny Dieng catching the eye, with the likes of West Ham United previously being interested in a deal to sign the 25-year-old.

Barnes has previously been on the books of Fulham and Colchester United, and with a lack of minutes likely to be on the table from Mark Warburton’s side moving forwards, a move to Doncaster Rovers would be the best move for all parties involved.

The League One side need a shot-stopper ahead of the 2021/22 league campaign, and if they can offer Barnes game time, then it’ll be a no-brainer for Donny to make their move for Barnes. Given that he’s already featured in a pre-season friendly for them, they’re clearly keen to get a move over the line in the near future.

QPR goalkeeping coach Gavin Ward has previously issued high praise for Barnes in an interview with the club’s official website, after his arrival was confirmed back in 2019.

“I’ve seen a lot from him, he has got the raw ingredients to become a very good goalkeeper. We have to perfect that now and make him technically as good as he can be.”

Doncaster Rovers are set to get their new league campaign underway on Saturday 7th August, when they take on AFC Wimbledon, and it’ll be interesting to see which player is between the posts for Richie Wellens’ side.

Nat-West U16 League – Fair Oak wide of the mark

Fair Oak’s young bowlers conceded a staggering 87 wides on the opening night of the NatWest Bank Under-16 Indoor Development League at the Hampshire Rose Bowl.It cost last winter’s champions dear against Basingstoke & North Hants and almost wrecked their chances of beating an inexperienced Andover side.Fair Oak fancied their chances of nailing Basingstoke after Richard Featherstone (33) had improved on a sound opening partnership between Ed White (30) and Ed Kemp (27) to post a handy 136-5.But their efforts were wasted as Fair Oak gifted Basingstoke 54 runs in wides alone – and lost the game by two wickets with an over to spare.Hampshire Academy all-rounder Mitchell Stokes hit 25 and then scored 26 in his team’s four-wicket win over Andover.Fair Oak were almost as profligate against Andover, who came within nine runs of overhauling a challenging 137-5.Featherstone (35 not out) again top scored, but Ollie Williams (27) and Chris Hadfield (26) profited from some erratic bowling and took Andover’s reply to 128-2.Results:
Andover 111 (Hadfield 22, Williams 2-14)
Basingstoke & North Hants 112-2 (Stokes 26, Williams 25)Fair Oak 137-5 (Featherstone 35)
Andover 128-2 (Williams 27, Hadfield 26)Fair Oak 136-5 (Featherstone 33, White 30, Kemp 27)
Basingstoke & North Hants 138-2 (Stokes 25)

Honours even as Rose Bowl wicket holds no fears

All eyes were on how the Rose Bowl wicket would play on Hampshire’s first return there since losing points two weeks previously, but there were no hidden fears as a good days cricket in good weather in front of a good crowd alleyed any doubts.Losing the toss at the Rose Bowl has become a bad habit for Hampshire captains, Robin Smith back after a bout of chicken pox made it 5 tosses from six attempts that have gone against the home county, and not surprisingly Jamie Cox chose to bat first.Somerset made a slow start with Cox managing 30 runs by the lunch interval, and after the cloud cover had gone and the promised sunshine arrived, the innings picked up tempo. Parsons and Turner made painstaking half centuries before Richard Johnson hit an exhillerating 61 in just 37 balls, with 2 sixes and 9 fours.Alan Mullally was the pick of the bowlers taking four wickets, whilst Shaun Udal did most of the spade work, being rewarded with three wickets, on a pitch that showed signs of turn early on.At the close Hampshire had safely negotiated 5 overs (3 from Caddick) but we suppose the most relieved man of the day would have been Head Groundsman Nigel Gray.

Tavares, presidente do clube.

Após gol contra o Criciúma, Winck pede passagem: ' Quero time A'

No ano passado, novo empréstimo: à Chapecoense.
