His sensational run of form has attracted attention from top Premier League clubs, and Man City appear to be one of them.

Despite the plethora of attacking midfield talent already at the Etihad Stadium, manager Pep Guardiola appears to have his sights set on another as Bild journalist Christian Falk shared news (via Sport Witness).

The German insider claimed that Guardiola has personally sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old ‘time and time again recently’ with the Sky Blues ‘very specifically’ interested among the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

As news of City’s intense interest emerges, these Sky Blues supporters have gone wild and pleaded for sporting director Txiki Begiristain and co to get a deal done, with one of them calling it the “best news” they had heard today.

Everton transfer update on Rodriguez

Some Everton fans have been left raging as a transfer update emerged on James Rodriguez.

Writing in his latest piece for The Liverpool Echo, Phil Kirkbride has now said that the Goodison Park faithful are still be exploring their options with regards to finding a potential taker for the former Real Madrid star.

The transfer window is still open in Russia, Turkey and Portugal, and so while the English window is now shut, there is still a possibility that Rodriguez could be moved on.

Of course, with the inability to be able to find a suitable replacement, it would not be a wise idea for the Merseyside club to offload the Colombia international, and so it is not a surprise to see a few Toffees supporters raging at the proposal.

Everton fans on Rodriguez transfer update

These Blues raged as the transfer update was shared on Twitter, with one EFC fan even going as far as to claim that it was ‘hideous’:

“Too late to let him go. We are short in depth already we need him.”

“Nothing to gain from freezing him out. Only thing to do now, is encourage him to fight for his place, treat him like a valued asset, but nothing more, and get the most out of him we can. He’ll be useful! He can also spearhead our global expansion strategy if we have any sense!”

Everton target Maitland-Niles set for talks

According to David Ornstein, Ainsley Maitland-Niles is set for crunch talks with Mikel Arteta in an attempt to push through a move to Everton.

The Lowdown: Late drama

The Toffees have been pushing to sign Maitland-Niles, who is currently being frozen out with Premier League strugglers Arsenal.

The Gunners have refused to let him depart, and the 24-year-old even took to Instagram to share his anger with not being allowed to leave (The Guardian).

The Latest: Maitland-Niles set for Arteta talks

Now, as per Ornstein, it seems £14.4m-valued Maitland-Niles (Transfermarkt) is to make one last attempt to move to Goodison Park.

He ‘plans to meet’ for talks with Arteta ‘this afternoon’, hoping to seal a dramatic late switch before the end of the deadline.

The Verdict: Desperate

There is no doubt about it – Maitland-Niles is desperate to leave the Emirates Stadium. That is hardly surprising – he made just 11 appearances across the first half of last season for the club, and has only come on from the bench twice this time around (Transfermarkt).

Given his versatility – he can play on either side of the back four and can feature across the midfield – he is a very interesting option for Rafael Benitez, especially given Stuart Pearce called him “outstanding” last season.

The Spaniard will be hoping those discussions with Arteta go the right way, as this move could add depth behind Seamus Coleman and some extra quality in midfield too.

In other news, Everton fans react to this big striker news.

Michael Ball believes Salomon Rondon will not join Everton

Michael Ball insists Salomon Rondon will not be reuniting with Rafa Benitez by joining Everton.

Benitez was appointed as the Toffees’ new boss in June and has since welcomed Andros Townsend, Asmir Begovic and Demarai Gray to Goodison Park.

The Spaniard is hoping to bolster his squad further before the transfer deadline at the end of the month and Rondon, who worked with Benitez at Newcastle United and Chinese Super League club Dalian Professional, has been mentioned as a potential target.

Rondon remains on the books of Dalian Professional, but reports suggest the 31-year-old could be released from his contract as they look to cut costs.

Benitez took Rondon to China after being appointed as Dalian Professional’s boss and he has remained prolific for his current employers, scoring 14 goals and laying on seven assists in 28 appearances.

But former Everton left-back Ball would be surprised to see Rondon switch to Everton before the transfer window shuts.

He exclusively told The Transfer Tavern: “I don’t think Rondon’s going to be the right suit for the football club at his age, even though he is scoring goals.

“I think buying an experienced striker to help and develop Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be an option, but I don’t think Rondon is the one.”

Liverpool are negotiating a new deal with Salah

It may have been a quiet summer for Liverpool so far in terms of incomings, but behind the scenes, they’ve been busy tying down their prized assets to new, long-term contracts.

What’s the story?

The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho and Alisson Becker have all committed their futures to the Anfield outfit, while club captain Jordan Henderson is expected to follow suit.

And now, arguably the club’s most important player, Mohamed Salah, of all could be set to put pen to paper on fresh terms, ending speculation over what’s in store for the Eygpt international over the next few years.

According to The Athletic’s Liverpool reporter James Pearce, the Reds have entered into talks with the 29-year-old over a new deal, with his current one set to expire in 2023.

Pearce’s report reads: “The Athletic understands negotiations are already underway over a new contract that would be the most expensive in club history.

“Salah’s current one, worth around £200,000 per week, runs until the end of next season, and the hope is he will commit his future for a further two years. By July 2025, he will be 33 years old.”

Liverpool fans will be buzzing

Since returning to English shores four years ago, Salah’s incredible consistency has seen him score a quite outrageous 126 goals in 204 goals for the Anfield outfit.

The Egyptian ace has also racked up 49 assists for Liverpool, showcasing his ability to be both the provider and finisher and has fired Jurgen Klopp’s charges to a Premier League title and Champions League crown during his time at the club.

Pearce’s latest report will reassure Liverpool fans that their star forward is here to stay and leave them buzzing with excitement.

The well-known and respected journalist claims that senior club sources have described the ongoing discussions so far as “productive”, and that there’s certainly no concern that a compromise has yet to be reached.

If Salah does sign a new contract then it would surely go down as Liverpool’s best piece of business in the current window, ensuring Klopp has the services of one of the sports top performances to call upon for the foreseeable future.

Fans will be absolutely buzzing with Pearce’s latest news.

South Africa to reconsider restoring Zimbabwe links

Cricket South Africa is set to review its decision to suspend bilateral relations with Zimbabwe Cricket in the light of Norman Arendse’s resignation as its president last week

Cricinfo staff22-Sep-2008Cricket South Africa is set to review its decision to suspend bilateral relations with Zimbabwe Cricket in the light of Norman Arendse’s resignation as its president last week.Arendse was the instigator of the cutting of ties with ZC in June because of what he said was “the worsening situation in Zimbabwe”. At the time the move was greeted with surprise as CSA had been staunch supporters of Peter Chingoka and his board. While Arendse was openly critical of the situation inside Zimbabwe, other senior officials have steadfastly backed the Chingoka regime and have gone to great lengths to help Zimbabwe’s young players get as much exposure to quality cricket as possible. It is now believed that CSA will reconsider the decision when it meets on October 11 and it is quite possible that bilateral ties will be resumed almost immediately. The power-sharing agreement between Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangarai, assuming that it holds, makes a restoration of relations all the more likely. It is generally believed that any such about-turn will come too late for Zimbabwe to be admitted to South Africa’s provincial competitions in 2008-09, although they could be squeezed into the MTN Domestic Championship and Standard Bank Pro20.

A inteira custa R$ 20.
